There are mainly three genres or categories in Chinese painting: 

• bird and flower paintings: includes flowers, fruits, birds, animals, insects and fish;

• figure paintings: includes religious figures, historical subjects, and scenes of everyday life.

• landscape paintings: includes moutains, river, lake and fall, etc;
